ELECTRICAL ENGINEER/DESIGNER/DRAFTER

Responsibilities

  • Produce high level and conceptual drawings and documentation.
  • Establish design concepts for lighting, fire alarm, and special systems.
  • Design of power distribution systems – to include associated load, fault current, and voltage drop calculations.
  • Produce conceptual calculations such as power system short circuit and load flow studies and transient analysis.
  • Develop specifications for major equipment or one of a kind purchase such as Generators, Large power transformers, and HV circuit breakers.
  • Attend project design/construction meetings as needed.
  • Direct/assist production personnel on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with clients and other disciplines on assigned projects
  • Prepare project specifications.
  • Coordinate with utility representatives
  • Conduct existing facility field investigation.
  • Perform construction administration services on assigned projects (shop drawings, RFI’s, site visits).
  • Assist in the development of proposals and presentations to clients.
  • Assist the project manager in the coordination of project designs, man-hour budgets, and schedules.
  • Ensure that the company technical policies and procedures are practiced during execution of team projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in designing power, lighting, fire alarm for schools, restaurants, commercial, medical, and industrial projects.
  • Be computer literate and familiar with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products, and FileMaker Pro
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a can-do attitude.
  • Display high level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timelines.
  • Have experience involving interaction with Production, multiple design teams from several companies and client representation.
  • Have an understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines and budgetary restraints.
  • Be familiar with commercial electrical installation standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.

CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGNER

We seek a Control System Engineer to be responsible for the design and engineering of process instrumentation & control systems, radio telemetry, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Report to Project Manager for work responsibilities, scheduling and quality control
  • Provide instrumentation & control design services for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and other municipal facilities
  • Provide design of radio telemetry systems
  • Provide design of SCADA systems
  • Provide regular onsite work for municipal clients including assisting with instrumentation, control system, and SCADA system design and programming and start-up

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation and control system design and engineering
  • BS or Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology or related technical field
  • Programming knowledge including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), operator interface terminals, and SCADA software a plus but not necessary. Products specified by JDB primarily include: Allen-Bradley SLC/MicroLogix/CompactLogix/PanelView, Modicon Quantum, Momentum, M340, GE iFIX, Invensys Wonderware, and other hardware/software
  • General electrical understanding of DC and AC circuits, as well as industrial instrumentation (meters, limit switches, sensors etc)
  • Knowledge of industrial radio and telephone based telemetry systems a plus
  • Ability to read control system wiring schematics
  • AutoCAD experience a plus
  • Must have some knowledge of computer and related technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Both office and field survey work are required.
